Blog Tour: Book Review: You May Kiss the Bridesmaid by Camilla Isley

The sixth book in Camilla Isley’s First Comes Love series, You May Kiss the Bridesmaid is a highly-entertaining, humorous and engaging story, with a fantastically warm and witty cast of characters who you come to care about quickly and without hesitation. Although this is part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone, and remains enjoyable if you’ve not read any of the previous books, which was the case for me. Isley’s warm and inviting writing style ensures that this is a book you become entirely wrapped up within, and stay interested in throughout. With so much drama, humour and flirtatious situations, this was a wonderful way to spend my day, and I can’t wait to go back and discover the rest of this series once I am able to.

I adore a wedding themed story, even more so when there’s plenty of sexual tension and chemistry to enjoy, so You May Kiss the Bridesmaid ticked both of those boxes. The emotions within this story were delicious in a way that I just couldn’t get enough of. Isley unravels her characters’ desires beautifully and I found that this drew me into this story even more.

I’d like to describe this book as ‘busy’, as there is always something happening, and always something else to look forward to in regards to the plot. Not once did this book lag for me, and not once did I feel my interest lacking. Summer and Archie were so fantastically crafted as characters, it was hard not to feel involved in their situation as much as they were themselves. Isley opened this fictional world up for me in the best possible way, and I felt that this was perfect escapism.

I adored the structure of this book, and think that it is the perfect way to tell a story when focusing on a male and female lead, because it lets us in on their unique views and voices, and absolutely enchants me when reading. It always feels like you’re being let in on the secret thoughts of either party, and it’s delicious to discover feelings before the characters themselves are even aware of them. It’s such an enticing way of story-telling,a and Isley pulls it off so well.

All in all, this was a fantastically engaging, uplifting and entertaining story with a ton of sexual-tension between two characters I couldn’t get enough of. Isley writes with charm and warmth, in a way that entices you to delve deeper into the lives of her characters. I thoroughly enjoyed You May Kiss the Bridesmaid by Camilla Isley and really look forward to reading more from this author in the very near future! With thanks to Rachel from Rachel’s Random Resources for allowing me to take part in the blog tour for this book, and for providing me with a review copy, that of which has no reflection in me providing a fair and honest review.

Archibald Hill is handsome, single, and he’s going to his best friend’s wedding ready to make a conquest or two. After all, everyone knows weddings are the perfect setting to get lucky.

Summer Knowles used to have a life—friends, family, a sister who’d do anything for her—until she blew it all away with a terrible mistake. Now, attending her twin’s wedding as the party’s undesirable number one seems like more than she can handle. So, when a tall stranger with smoldering ice-blue eyes offers her a therapy of seven nights of no-strings-attached fun, she might even ignore that he has a beard and accept.

Problem is, Summer has never been good at keeping sex and feelings separated…
